The hospice medical director collaborates with other members of the hospice team and the patient's primary physician to help manage the patient's discomfort and symptoms.
The attending physician usually refers patients to our program and remains the patient's primary care physician and works as a member of the hospice team.
Our registered nurses are educated in palliative care and pain control, they work with patients to establish and maintain comfort as well as quality of life. They also educate family members to provide better care for their loved one.
Hospice aides are available to provide patients with bathing, personal and comfort care.
Medical social workers provide individual and family counseling to help meet the challenges created by a terminal illness. The social worker also can facilitate family communication, arrange support for caregivers, and help to find financial and legal assistance.
The chaplain can provide spiritual counseling for people of all faiths, planning services, and serving as a liaison between the family and clergy in the community.
A bereavement counselor offers a variety of services to the patient's family to help cope with and understand their grief.
Hospice volunteers are kind and compassionate individuals who support patients and loved ones by providing respite care and friendly visits.
